I bought this book in October after I saw it at Michaels. I flipped through a couple pages and it seemed interesting and I knew it would probably be really nice to unwind after a long day.

Synopsis

Take time to breathe. Take time to create. Take time to reflect, take time to let go. A book that’s unique in the way it mixes reading and doing, A Book That Takes Its Time is like a mindfulness retreat between two covers.

Created in partnership with Flow, the groundbreaking international magazine that celebrates creativity, beautiful illustration, a love of paper, and life’s little pleasures, A Book That Takes Its Time mixes articles, inspiring quotes, and what the editors call “goodies”—bound-in cards, mini-journals, stickers, posters, blank papers for collaging, and more—giving it a distinctly handcrafted, collectible feeling.

Read about the benefits of not multitasking, then turn to “The Joy of One Thing at a Time Notebook” tucked into the pages. After a short piece on the power of slowing down, fill in the designed notecards for a Beautiful Moments jar. Make a personal timeline. Learn the art of hand-lettering. Dig into your Beginner’s Mind. Embrace the art of quitting. Take the writing cure. And always smile. Move slowly and with intention through A Book That Takes Its Time, and discover that sweet place where life can be both thoughtful and playful.

(Just a bit of) My Thoughts

A Book That Takes Its Time: An Unhurried Adventure in Creative Mindfulness as I had suspected, is a great book to use to unwind after a long day. Filled with soothing art and educational discoveries, this book does not waste your time! I lived the fillable booklets and just the general aura of serenity the book gives off!

My favorite parts of this book where the texts whe could read talking about various ways in which we get overwhelmed and giving the readers many calming alternive suggestions! Today I did some rock painting just like one of the suggestions in the book. For me, this was a great book for the after-hours of the day. That’s after school, work, then homework; it really helped me settle down before bed.

The added bonus to this book is that once I was done reading it, I took out the pictures I liked and added them to my wall. In fact this book’s art occupies many spots on my wall by my desk. Now every time I look up I can see the soothing art and quotes from this book.

The Wrap Up

A Book That Takes Its Time: An Unhurried Adventure in Creative Mindfulness is a fun book for those rough days. I always loved activity books when I was a kind and this is kinda the adult version of that. Even if you don\t follow the guidelines specifically, its all chill! This book would be a great addition to a coffee table or just to flip through when you’re feeling a little overwhelmed!
